About

Cannabis Tincture is a liquid extract or infusion of medical cannabis, taken orally. We carry both indica- and sativa-based tinctures as well as CBD-rich products and blends. Tincturing of Cannabis and other medicinal herbs is a practice that has been in evidence for over 5,000 years.

Growing
Process

During the growing process, organic nutrients are used to feed the plants and bring out their best qualities.  After harvest, the cannabis is dried and pulverized. At this point a process of decarboxylation is applied, heating the cannabis to convert all the THC-A to THC and converting the CBD-A to CBD.

The dried cannabis is steeped in an organic alcohol, olive oil or sesame oil for 7 weeks. Stored in a dark cool place as it brews, every day the brewing tincture is shaken and energized. 190 proof organic food grade grain alcohol, organic olive oil, or organic sesame oil is used as a solvent to extract the cannabis oils. The full spectrum oils are rich in cannabinoids such as: THC, CBD, CBN, CBT and CBC just to name a few. There are over 85 different cannabinoids, of which many have significant healing properties -  both in their individual medicinal value as well as working together as a team. This is known as the ‘entourage effect’.

We produce a full-plant extract with all the components intact, providing a synergistic medicine.

Dosage

Dosage will vary between patients, due to individual sensitivity. The recommended dose also varies for the medical condition, sensitivity, body chemistry and body weight. Often the daily dose is between 0.5 - 3ML, approximately 10 - 150 drops.  For high THC tincture we suggest you err on the side of caution and start with just 5 drops. Total drops per 1 oz of tincture = 1,350. One dose usually last 6-8 hours and initial effects will be felt after 45-60 minutes.

Finding the correct dose is called titration. Each person will have to experiment a bit to discover what dose works best for them. It is best to start off cautiously, taking about half of the anticipated dose. If you do not feel much, or any effect of the medication, increase the dose slightly the next scheduled time to take the medication. Continue to increase the dose over one week and keep notes of the results.

When you get to the dose that feels too much, then lighten the dose a little bit. The tincture comes in bottles with an eye dropper dispenser, facilitating accurate measurement of the dosage.

Alcohol, Sesame Oil, or Olive Oil?

Why Olive Oil? Olive oil tinctures have proved themselves here at Synergy for over a decade. They are an excellent vehicle for long lasting CBD support. A good choice for those who choose sublingual ingestion or who want the added benefit of essential fatty acids. Our Organic Olive oil is locally sourced and sustainably grown in Sebastopol, CA

Why Sesame Oil? Sesame Oil has a long history in the Ayurvedic Medicine of India. Modern science is only just beginning to discover why. Recent studies show Sesame seed oil can increase the absorption of of CBD in the lymphatic system exponentially over other carriers. We suggest folks who have been using other tincture “carriers”, such as olive oil or alcohol, cut their dose by 1/3 when switching to Sesame, then, titrate up or down to establish their new dose. Sesame oil has a soft, nutty taste.

Why Alcohol? Alcohol is the fastest acting of carriers. This makes it a good choice for “as needed” pain applications and Migraine prevention. It should be mixed with juice or water to buffer. For folks suffering from nausea or with sensitive palates it can bypass issues around the richness of oils and/or the taste of cannabis. Alcohol tinctures also have the longest shelf life, if stored out of direct sunlight & heat, it is in excess of 2years. Do watch for evaporation, if not properly closed, alcohol can evaporate leaving concentrated medicine that can be reconstituted by adding a bit of vodka or any food grade grain alcohol. A standard dose of 3-60 drops does not contain enough alcohol where you feel effects beyond that of the actual medicine. Learn more.

Properties

To better understand the properties of our tinctures, please look up the properties of the individual flowers that are used to make the blends, or under the description of each individual tincture: The descriptions of the strains of cannabis flowers can be found on the product pages for Flowers:  CBD strains, Sativa strains and Indica strains.

Synergy Wellness tinctures are made from the highest quality products. Clients using the tincture have reported beneficial effects for a wide range of conditions. These include:

Cancer treatment side effects:

  • Nausea (Sativa)

  • Loss of appetite (Sativa)

  • Depression (Sativa)

  • Anxiety (CBD, ACDC & Indica)

  • Pain (indica)

Back Pain - inflammation and other chronic pain (THCA, ACDC Indica blend, Indica and all CBD Rich products). We have found that the 4:1 ratio CBD:THC has worked best for pain issues, in general.
Tremors - from Parkinson's disease, MS and nerve damage (ACDC, ACDC Indica Blend Indica)
Stress - ACDC is our best stress medicine. Other CBD Rich strains also work.
Cancer - Latest research indicates that CBD (cannabidiol) is effective in stopping the propagation of cancer cells. It also promotes apoptosis, helping the mutant cancer cell remember how to die. It also aids in tumor reduction and reduced inflammation. Recent research  from Spain indicates that THC is very important in the shrinking of tumors. CBD and THC work well together and CBD does need some THC as a catalyst to make it work better. Our current protocol usually includes either the ACDC blended 4:1 tinctures (Indica and Sativa) or the CO2 extract oils (7:1, 4:1 and 1:1 ratio). If people with cancer are using the tinctures, they should be taking 3-4 ml per dose, 3 times a day.
Epilepsy - ACDC is our version of Charlotte's Web. ACDC tincture is available in an olive oil or alcohol base. Olive oil base is preferred for children. Because there is such a low amount of THC, is it safe for children. We have seen approximately a 90% success rate in reduction of frequency, intensity and duration of seizures. Latest test results are 17 mg/ml CBD , 0.7 mg/ml THC.
